I know the idea of a selfie stick sounds incredibly vain, narcissistic and like you’re a tourist in your own city. But finding a good selfie stick can be the perfect addition to your 360 camera kit and allow you to create some of the best photos you will ever take by getting that extra elevation. I was once a selfie stick skeptic now I insist you must have a selfie stick with you if you really want to take your 360 photo and video seriously because getting extra elevation means your camera gets a better view of the world. So when i first warmed the idea of using a selfie stick I found a generic one at my local camera shop and look it did the job it wasn’t that great but it gave me a feel for what a selfie stick could do and eventually I decided to upgrade to a better selfie stick and now I think I’ve found the perfect selfie stick for shooting 360 and I’m going to share it with you guys so the selfie stick is the manfrotto two-in-one selfie pole manfrotto is a very well-known tripod brand I own lots of their tripods and they’re known for good quality, their stuff doesn’t break it’s really solid it doesn’t even come loose. This selfie stick is so solid you can’t feel any movement at all it’s very very well built and the best feature of this selfie stick is it extends so damn far like twice the distance as a normal selfie stick look at that holy crap that is like the height of me so if I put on the ground it comes up to here that’s huge like normally they’re about two feet look at this is ginormous so when you’re shooting 360 it just helps having those extra few feet because it means you can get even higher and get even more of bird’s eye view of your landscape also when you pack it up it’s smaller than the average selfie stick this is about 10 centimeters smaller than what you would normally get which is really handy because my other selfie stick it fits in my backpack but it’s such a tight squeeze that it’s always pushing the fabric of the backpack whereas this one I know is going to fit so snugly and easily inside my backpack so it’s highly transportable so this is a really good option I love the hand grip as well it’s really solid it just feels really good to touch and it’s just a very user friendly selfie stick another huge selling feature is the tripod thread an issue I had in the past with my old selfie stick is that the head of the selfie stick was too big because it’s so round it actually sticks out beneath your 360 camera so it’s going to be seen in your photos also it has this little screw which is also present I’ve had to edit that out so many damn times, it’s gotten so frustrating which is why this one is so perfect because all it is is a standard male 1 quarter inch tripod thread and it’s no wider than maybe one and a half centimeters so it’s going to easily hide underneath your 360 camera because with all 360 cameras the blind spot is directly underneath you need something that’s going to fit in that blind spot and almost any 360 camera is going to go snugly onto this and the stick will be perfectly hidden I can tell this selfie sticks going to last me a really long time because it’s just built so nicely and it’s just really good to use it’s so user-friendly and just feels good it’s so solid not going to loosen it not going to break it I’ve already broken one or two selfie sticks so I’m really confident that this is going to last me at least one to two years if not more here are the accessories that the selfie stick comes with however I urge you to throw them out as soon as you buy this selfie stick because they’re useless this is for a GoPro if you want to use a GoPro that’s fine but this one is an adjustable head so firstly this is bad because it has the little screw sticking out which could potentially end up in your shot but also when you’re shooting 360 on a selfie stick like I said in my previous selfie stick video you need to have your camera straight in line with the selfie stick you can’t have it on an angle that’s the number one mistake I see with selfie sticks is that people put their selfie sticks in front of them and they angle the camera up instead of in line so when the cameras angled up it sees the selfie stick and you don’t want to have your selfie stick in your shot so get rid of this and get rid of that but honestly this is just made perfectly for 360, this is the selfie stick of my dreams I never thought I’d say those words because like I said I hate the idea of walking around with a selfie stick and I still do but the selfie stick is just so good that I’m willing to forgive the cold stares that are imparted upon me when I walk around with this thing in public. People just don’t understand 360 whenever you do it in public they’re like ‘what the hell are you doing are you part of the men in black are you going to wipe my memory?’ Argh.. no ma’am just look into the lens and remember you did not just see an alien spacecraft so in conclusion I think this is the perfect selfie stick for 360 shooting yes it’s not the cheapest selfie stick out there but it’s going to last and it’s going to do a damn good job at concealing itself from your 360 photos so if you’re looking to get a selfie stick this is the one for you the manfrotto two-in-one selfie pole all right i’ll put a link in the description to where you can find this awesome selfie stick on amazon and until next time you did not see an alien spacecraft and you will follow me on instagram Facebook YouTube and Twitter I command you to and you didn’t see an alien spacecraft

I was using a stick since first Theta model :P, because I hate that "selfies with big thumb on the picture". I dont know how this pass a testing and they release first 2 models without selftimer……………………… To solve this problem I was using something like "auto touch" / "Finger Replayer"

Cool video and shots… My camera 360FLY 4k doesnt work that way but you have some great shots with yours. I don't really have a method for recording overhead without exposing the stick. I think the 360fly is like 360×270 or something like that. What camera were you using in this footage? As you can see in my vids…. there is a blind spot: https://youtu.be/OpJYe0sRY4Y?list=PLkjdluIvHCQL264HrrPZNyqTrLbHeTO1H …and exposure to the to stick. sub'd your channel. good stuff

Useful review, Ben. Really like the attention to detail. (In all your posts, actually, not just your reviews.) Just my opinion, but… not mentioning price seems like an omission. I had to jump over to Amazon in order to find out. Price doesn't always determine my decision, but I think it's an obvious component of reviewing and comparing.

Hi Ben, That is a great monopod/pole I saw it last year in Photokina attached at the base to a Manfrotto Pixi tabletop tripod and it was strong enough to hold a theta camera. I found quite funny that you kept on going on and on about the "selfie stick" definition and had to go into the Manfrotto website to see if they actually use that name, and they don't phew! What this is, is a professional small pole and is light enough to be used as a "selfie stick", so forget about that and call it what it is, a Monopod/Pole. In traditional 360 photography and before the appearance of drones, poles like the ones from Nodal Ninja have been use to great effect. You are right they give a better, wider and different point of view that will make pictures stand out. Also what is cool is that if you have the capability of editing the Nadir, you can use the pole horizontally out balconies, helicopters, etc.. resulting in an amazing effect.

Hi, Ben! Great review, as always, thanks! I have just one question about this monopod. As I see it has the standart screw on both ends of the stick, so this means that the camera can be attached in two ways. So my question is – Is there some way to combine this monopod with a base tripod stand, so the camera can stand on this monopod "handsfree" 🙂
It,s clear that it will not be too much stable, but for a quick shot it could be useful.
Anyway, as You discovered about the selfie stick and monopod, if there are also another great gadgets useful for 360 camera use, continue to make a reviews!
    Bye!

    Hello,
I have another solution that I use:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N67EFD4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(no this is not referral type of link 🙂 )

These have a tripod whole on the bottom. When you buy 2 of these you have 2 meters stick. I replaced the ugly black thing on top with a normal bolt and it's basically invisible. I combined these 2 metre stick with a 1.5 tripod and works awesome 🙂

You will recieve very sturdy metal tripod with each. and you can mount it on the bottom (if there is no wind!!! )

You will become so small on little planet photos, so you can just remove yourself with one click.

    Cheers.

Great info. I had a normal selfie stick with a ball head and it drove me nuts because it was very hard to adjust the stick to be directly in-line with blind ring of the 360 cam and not have it shift slightly when I tightened the knob. This stick solves all that in one fell swoop! 🙂 I love the extra length and sturdiness too.

I have two problems with the Manfrotto selfie stick when used with the Gopro Fusion, in the context of getting action footage. One is the 1/4" screw mount is not reliable. They can untwist and your $1000 camera will fall off. True you can glue the Gopro mount on, but that's a pain in itself. The other is the clamp locks require two hands to operate and can catch and snag on stuff. None of that is good when you're in the middle of some extreme activity, trying to maintain control, and trying to get half decent footage.
