The next penalty we’re going to show you is
slashing. Slashing the hand signal for it is like that. And it happens when you take
your stick and you strike it against another person’s arm or their leg or any part of their
body at a quick motion. And I’m going to demonstrate it on; first I’m going to demonstrate it on
Dan. Now he’s got the puck and I’m coming down here and I just take a whack at the leg,
that’s going to be called for slashing or if he’s got the puck and I come in like this
on his hands. You’re going to get called. Also you can actually slash the stick, like
that. Those are all going to be called for a minor penalty. Also you can do it to the
goalie. If you just take a whack at him, you’re going to get called. And also depending on
the severity of it you could get thrown out of the game so. And that’s the slashing penalty.

If I understand correctly, Slashing used to be a 4-minute penalty, but was recently dropped to a minor penalty, right?

A pity you are not showing what spearing looks like. I heard that here in Finland, someone was punished very severely for it.
