Mental toughness in sports is totally unappreciated. It's the difference between winning and losing.

Great video! I don't know a single decent hockey player that isn't psychically AND mentally tough.

That is great – I wish more sports parents would take the time so they learn how to better communicate with their athletes!

Our goal is to help these kids learn these focusing and mental toughness techniques so they have them down before they enter adulthood!

You are right – you need to be mentally tough just to step out on the ice!

Excellent Advice Coach Craig. Focusing on the present is critical and using your senses to "live" in the moment is a good way to help mental concentration and discipline. It is key not to think of the past but also equally important not to think of the future either. ie outcome, result stronger opponent etc.

NO DISRESPECT CRAIG, THIS VIDEO IS BORING COZ IMA RUGBY PLAYER, AND I LIKE YOUR SPEECH BUT IT AINT PUMPING ME UP BECAUSE YOUR PICS N HIGHLIGHTS DOESNT SUIT UR WORDS TO US. ONLY HOCKEY PLAYERS AND WOULD-BE HOCKEY PLAYERS WILL UNDERSTAND THIS. ITS BETTER IF U CHANGE YOUR TITLE TO HOW TO INCREASE MENTAL FOCUS FOR HOCKEY PLAYERS. U SHOULD WATCH OTHER MENTAL TOUGHNESS VIDEOS, THEY ADD BOXING, RUGBY, ATHELETICS N MANY MORE TO MAKE IT MORE INSPIRING AND HUNGRIER TO REACH SUCCESS.

Appreciate the feedback. I get it about the pictures, but the message still works for you too! Is there an issue as a rugby player that we can address in a video for you???

Focusing on this moment is what I did for 18 years on the LPGA golf tour. I remember the day I quit playing and I took a mental vacation from rigorous mental training for a few years.Thought I didn't need that anymore. Bad idea. I know better today. Thanks for the reminder

Thinking completely in the present could be counterproductive. There could be a mistake that your body is telling you to learn from. When athletes make a mistake, they most often punish themselves for making a mistake instead of learning how to correct their mistake. Listen to your body, learn how to correct your mistake, and focus on the correction during the next shift.
