Hi, my name’s Joe, and I’m at Break Time Billiards,
in Wilmington, North Carolina, and today, we’re going to talk why do you chalk a pool
cue. The reason that you chalk a pool cue is that you want to have a surface on your
tip so that when you hit the object ball it will adhere, as opposed to slipping off. If
the tip gets glazed over or doesn’t have any chalk on it there’s a very good chance that
you may miscue. You want to make sure that you chalk your cue for every shot. It’s a
good habit to get into, and a lot of times it’s easy to forget. When you chalk your stick
just make brush passes as you turn your stick, and if you’d rather; you can hold your stick
and just put the tip onto the chalk and just do a rotating circular motion. You just want
to put a nice even coat on it. You want to do this on every shot, and the reason is so
that you will not miscue when you shoot the cue ball into the object ball.
