The next save is called Paddle Down. This
save requires the goalies stick to be facing outward along with the ice with one pad on
the ice and the other one kind of upright. This save is important because if a player
is coming around their net and they are not going to try and bank it off the goalie, it’s
a good save to make. So we are going to show you some saves in this position. And that
is a Paddle down Save.

I usually only use a paddle down when sliding hard to stick side on a guy coming in sharp or on a wraparound to that side. this vid really is useless.

Just want to say that the pad closest to the post should be up. That way if they go across the net you can profly (the push.. it's what I call it) across with them.

You should use the VH position in that situation… much more effective.

For all goalies. Don't make this save. Stay standing on the post and drift.

It is a save selection that should only be used AFTER a low shot is taken, or if they are in very close. In the situations shown in this video, it is a very bad habit. It will lose you games as the entire top of the net to the right of the goalie's helmet is open and players will not hesitate even for a second to roof it.
