You promised me you
weren’t gonna kill anyone. Yep. Then what the hell was that back there? The mission. That’s what your war’s
come to? Killing children? That thing in the
container was not a child. I could hear his heartbeat. It was light and fast. He hadn’t even hit puberty. You’re emotional. Yeah, no shit. If you’d have focused
beyond your crybaby feelings, you would’ve sensed
what that kid really was. He was just a kid. You’re blind as you ever were. Maybe you should’ve stuck around
and finished training me yourself. I needed a soldier. You wanted a father. Well, I guess we’re both disappointed then. I guess we are. [grunts] You take care of yourself, Matty. I’m not gonna let you kill that kid. Oh, he’s already dead. I caught up with the van while you
were dicking around with Nobu’s men. I put an arrow in that thing’s heart. [Matt yelling] You can’t even tag an old man. Get up. Get up! Get up! Get out of my city. Maybe there’s hope for you yet. Nice catching up. Eh? You can keep the sticks. You’re gonna need ’em.

That guitar solo in the background sounds like something David Gilmour would do.

I like to think Stick looks at Matt as his son just as much as Matt looks at Stick as his dad. I love this fight scene because Stick was still taking Matt he just didn't know it then.

Daredevil: "He hadn't even hit puberty."
Stick: "He wasn't even human Matt."
Daredevil: "You expect me to believe that?"
Stick: "We live in a world where alien beings attack New York under the command of a Norse God. So yeah. I had hoped you would."
    Daredevil: "….oh yeah."

Then again, if that conversation had went down like that, we'd have been deprived of an excellent fight scene, and years of pent-up resentment and abandonment evaporated. So I'm glad we got what we got.

Stick has this arrogance about him that suggests he knows how we all should live, but he can't even face the challenge of the emotional state of a 10-year-old.  Let's not forget that he said he would prepare Matt, but what has he done?  He taught him for like a year, then Matt gives him a paper bracelet, and Stick heads for the hills.  "Figure it out for yourself kid, I don't do feelings".  And he has the balls to say things like "Haven't I taught you anything, kid?"…Well no you haven't, not in the long scheme of things.  You, an old man with years of experience and wisdom were put to the task of teaching a boy your way of life.  You do that for around a year or so, then the boy puts a paper circle in your hand, then you shit your pants and leave.  It's astonishing he stayed as good as he did without your guidance.  Maybe if you had the fortitude of overcoming pre-pubescent affection, you could have done a better job with him.
