(upbeat music) – Today I’m teaming up with
Sport Chek and Jumpstart to give back to some amazing volunteers. You on? (laughing) Alright,
let’s go do some shopping here. I actually don’t like
shopping, but today I do. We’re going to have the opportunity here to go through the whole
store, and pretty much pick out gifts for two
volunteers that were selected from the HEROS program,
just pick out things, and, you know, later on, surprise them. Canadian people love this stuff, no? – [Store Employee] Oh, we’re
all about the plaid, yeah. – Just the plaid. The two
people are Mark and Justin, they’ve been with the program
for, you know 10 plus years. They’re really passionate people, people I’ve grown really close to, and today it’s about them, you know, they’ve given so much
to the HEROS program, to the kids that they
take care of each day, and to me it’s just
that’s a good opportunity to really give back and
look after them for once. A little Netflix and sweatpants I guess. HEROS Hockey is a program for
kids that are in most cases, don’t have the opportunity to play sports. Gives them an opportunity
to be like everybody else, like any other kid. You know, the volunteers are I think the most important piece there. They act like you know,
pretty much like a parent away from home and it gives
the kids a great opportunity to learn from great people. People probably watch me and are like, this guy’s a baller, he’s
just buying all new stuff for himself. There’s people out there that
do so much good and never expect anything in return, and that’s just the beauty
of this whole thing. They’ll be stunned hopefully,
they’ll be excited. It’s time for us to show them
how much we care for them. Okay, so we’re done shopping
now here at Sport Chek, the next step is going to
be to deliver the gifts. (upbeat music) We’re at the Britannia rink. My hockey HEROS kids are
out there on the ice, so I’m going to surprise the kids first by skating with them, and then after, going to give away the
gifts to the volunteers. How’s it going guys?
Good to see you again. – You’re going to have to get
your name on there some day. Nice save. Sport Chek gave me the
opportunity to honor some of your volunteers. While I was asking around
for names of people, the names that came up the
most were Justin and Mark. I’m excited today, because
it gives me an opportunity to give back to you guys. You know, I can’t thank you enough, to how well you take care
of every single one of you. Sport Chek allowed me to
go shopping for you guys. (upbeat music) I actually got you real hockey gloves. – I got my real hockey gloves. – (laughing) I got you real ones, so you don’t have to wear these anymore. – Absolutely incredible, I mean, between the bikes, the shoes, the hoodies, so I’m a pretty lucky guy. – We come out here for the kids, you know, we don’t really
think about ourselves. As volunteers, we just
think about ourselves here promoting hockey, promoting
confidence with the kids. It was kind of shocking,
but it’s nice, you know it’s kind of, you reflect
on it, it’s kind of like wow, geez, that’s really, really great. – Mark and Justin have a
really good impact on me, like, whenever I have like
needs, they always like do the best to be there
for me, on and off the ice so like they’re just like a really good support system
for everybody at HEROS. – They’ve just helped
improve the kids a lot by either mentally,
emotionally, or physically with the hockey program in general. – Very overwhelmed,
very grateful obviously, but very overwhelmed.
We don’t do what we do for the great things
that were given to us, we do it for our kids, so
this is absolutely incredible. – [Photographer] One, two three. – [All Kids] Justin and Mark.

Baertchi is my favourite Canuck, sad to see him out this long. Horvat's greatest winger to date in my opinion
