It’s an age-old rivalry
between the two remaining Maori boys’ boarding schools, one that spans generations, that is, the traditional rugby match
Te Aute and Hato Paora. Tamati Rimene-Sproat
has this report. By red and black,
the mana of Te Aute was restored. These schools have been facing off
on the rugby pitch for 10 years now. A head-to-head battle. It’s the most anticipated
game of the year. Following their loss last year, the Te Aute boys came out fighting
to restore the mana of their school. And in the end,
Te Aute came out on top 20-10. Both schools
will meet again next year to go at it again once more. Tamati Rimene-Sproat, Te Karere.

Tip was TA's 1st 15 traditional rugby rival between 2 maori boarding schools before, the closure of that school…TA competed with Paora at junior rugby level in the early 80s at least, can't remember the 1st 15s playing against one another during that time.
