(dramatic music) – The Vancouver Canucks
draft from Saint Petersburg of the KHL, Vasili Podkolzin. – (crowd cheering) – Podkolzin! Podkolzin! – [Announcer] An absolute
steal in my mind. He’s a top five player
in this draft class. There are no holes in
this young man’s game and he’s got a whole lot of compete. He plays a North American style of game. He played for Valeri Bragin, the head coach for the
Russian World Junior team, who never, never relies on young players in big moments. He did that all throughout
the World Juniors. He played the penalty kill. He played the final minute of a period. Defensive zone draws. – [Jim] We’re excited to get him. He’s strong on the puck. He takes pucks to the net. – [Sergei] Vasili says it’s hard to express his feelings now. He’s still excited and he hopes that in two years from now he comes to Vancouver and
will help the team to win. Vasili, Vasili says that he
can do whatever he’s been, he will be asked for to do. Like he could be a power
forward play-making guy and he can score goals as well. – (speaking in Russian) – [Sergei] Okay, he doesn’t
know Tryamkin personally. – (crowd cheering) – Nice going man, congrats. – Yeah. – You did some awesome stuff though. – (all laughing) (speaking in Russian) – Exciting man, Vancouver!.

I don’t get why he’s only played like 20 games this year and barely has any points. Players like that tend to turn out good, though

Maybe try practicing the name a couple times beforehand so you don't butcher the guys name.

Hes good a seeing the ice well has a good shot very strong on the puck and has a very competitive nature and is a guy who stands up for his team. He aldo can play the pk

It sure sounded like Stan Smyl was into the sauce before going up, that was brutal lol. This kid seems perfect for what the team needs on the top 2 lines, skill and grit.

It’s his Birthday today the 24th of June. He will look great as a Canuck with Panarin as the other winger between Petey or Bo.

Funny how somebody asked if he knew Tryamkin (like he is supposed to recuit him back to Vancouver)

Jack Hughes probably saying (wow wished the Canucks picked 1st I don't want to go to New Jersey I want to play with my brother in a Canadian hockey market)

We also trade for JT Miller and were in talks for Subban but wanted the Preds to take some salary back to it didn't happen (if Benning pulled that off the floor would've gone nuts)

His last name sounds like Put-goals-in or Puck-goes-in

Either way it’s a good name.
